Universal AccessibilityThe Playscape at Ripley will empower, challenge and include people of all physical and intellectual abilities, engaging them on multiple levels – physical, social, and sensory. Most playgrounds that meet ADA accessibility guidelines do not address the multiple challenges faced by children on the autism spectrum and children with sensory loss, leaving these children with a very one-dimensional experience. The play strategy of the Playscape at Ripley actively engages the whole child and all of their senses, not just gross motor skills.
For examples of some of the Playscape's universally accessible features, please visit our Key Features page. |
Also note that invariably when we design something that can be used by those with disabilities, we often make it better for everyone.
